Daria, a resilient parent, found herself facing adversity while navigating the systems that serve her boys with unique needs. Her days are filled with therapy, audiology appointments, and the day-to-day complexities of raising two boys on the Autism Spectrum. Surrounded by daily challenges, Daria makes an effort to stay informed regarding her children’s diagnosis to gain an understanding of the systems that serve her family. Financial hardships and a language barrier add stress to already emotionally drained and physically exhausted parents.

Daria shared that meeting her family’s essential needs has been a concern, making it difficult to have a joyous holiday season. Hearing, Daria’s story, EPU staff nominated the family for the Adopt-A-Family program. Because of generous community sponsors, Daria’s family of four received blankets, hygiene essentials, winter clothing, and shoes in addition to toys for the children to enjoy.  Through Adopt-A-Family efforts, Daria’s Christmas was a magical day filled with warmth and holiday cheer.
